This wonderful carved mahogany country house leather upholstered armchairs which have been hand dyed to a wonderful light honey colour. The back and seat cushions are feathered which makes the chairs extremely comfortable. The cushions are complimented by scroll armrests that are supported by carved mahogany legs, leading down to a hairy claw foot, to the centre of the frame is a carved shell . The sofa has been upholstered in the traditional manner with a fine quality hand dyed and antiqued leather hyde decorated with an individual solid brass nail studwork finish. These armchairs would compliment a lounge, study dining room, dressing room, library , or even a large kitchen. This very handsome pair of chairs have carved wreath style decoration to the backs, padded upholstered seat and back standing on very attractive legs. These chairs were made in Dublin Ireland by the famous maker Robert Strahan 22-24 Henry Street which has the original paper stamp on base. Would look fantastic in a hallway, bedroom or dining room especially if you are from Dublin. History of the maker:- The furniture firm of Robert Strahan and Co was founded in 1776. Operating from premises in 10-11 Chancery Lane, by 1815 it was so successful that two new workshops opened at 22-24 Henry Street and 5 Leinster Street in 1845. They displayed their work at Dublin's great industrial exhibition of 1853, where the best examples of Irish design and manufacture were on show. In 1870 the firm moved to Abbey Street and continued to trade under the well-established family name up until 1969. This beautiful exhibition quality satinwood pier cabinet with gold gilt fittings and three porcelain plaques one to the top section and one either side of the glass fronted door. the cabinet has a beading around the top of the cabinet and also to the base and the door. The cabinet also has two magnificent gold gilt ladies and to the base two more gilt decrotive emblems with a gold gilt display to the base . Inside the cabinet which has been newly lined in a very neutrual suede style fabric it has two shelves these also have a gold colour beading to the fronts of the shelves. This stunning Queen Anne , walnut bureau bookcase having a swan neck pediment , with fine cross cut mouldings and herringbone inlays . The top bookcase section with plate glass mirrors , reveals behind , a large top section for manuscripts , pigeon holes under , adjustable upright sections with the finest walnut lined drawers under. The bookcase has an adjustable cabinet behind the mirror doors which are inside with gold gilt corinthian coloums , engraved hinges and escutcheons . The centre of the bookcase which is the bureau has eight pigeon holes with very fine walnut lined herringbone inlaid drawers , large cupboard behind mirror door, pull out columns and has a very rare large secret department this also has pull out candle slides. The lower section of the bookcase has three small drawers , two medium and two large drawers all with cross cut mouldings, and herringbone inlay , gold gilt swan neck handles standing on bracket feet. The bureau has its original keys and locks.
