This James Mc Cabe Fine curl mahogany longcase clock , comes with a fully overhauled eight day movement , painted 12 inch dial with Roman numerals and blue steel hands , with original winding key. The clock has viewing panels to the side of the hood and brass inserts to the canted corners, the hood also has a brass finial to the top . The clock is fitted with weight driven movement striking the hours on a bell, with the addition of a silent and strike lever. Additional information:- James Mc Cabe was one of the most celebrated clock makers of the 18th/19th century renowned for his craftsmanship, precision and elegant designs. James Mc Cabe was commissioned to make a clock for the President of the United States of America George Washington and a pocket watch for the first Viscount Horatio Nelson . This very elegant mahogany bracket clock surmounted by a pineapple finial above a gadrooned chamford top and moulded cornice with four inset brass outlined spandrels enclosing the convex glass and brass bezel. the sides each with a brass carrying handles with silk back grills on a stepped base with four adjusting ball feet. The eight inch convex cream painted dial inscribed John Clark Mark Lane London with blued steel hands. The twin train wire gut fus'ee movement with arched plates striking the hour on the bell with fine time adjusting pendulum and engraved bob on a brass inlaid bracket all in fine condition . This spetacular bureau bookcase which is very unusual with walnut and boxwood crossbanding, gold gilt handles and pulls all original, oak lined drawers with tan leather hide on writing department, four long drawers to base and smaller drawers to internal compartment the dome top section has original glass with drawers and adjustable pigeon holes to either side of the glass .
